HELP BEFORE, DURING & AFTER FAMILY COURT

You don’t have to carry this on your own.

You will be listened to, not judged or told what to do.

I’m a trained coach with firsthand experience of family court. I’m familiar with court proceedings, appeals, social services and the wider system that can become involved around a family.

When you’re facing the hardest decisions and every option feels impossible, having someone to talk to can make a difference. I offer time to pause, be heard and think through what you need next.

People use the time I offer in a variety of ways:

  • To cry, be angry, read or think.
  • To prepare for family court hearings and questioning.
  • To prepare their own position statement.
  • To prepare for interviews or meetings with social services.
  • To build strategies or make decisions.

It can also be time to work through what is behind them and prepare emotionally for what is ahead.

Practical support with family court preparation

Using a coaching approach, I offer practical support of the kind a McKenzie Friend may provide. This can include helping you:

  • Organise documents and evidence you already have and may wish to rely on, so they are in a clear order.
  • Prepare your own statements by helping you structure them and express them in your own words. You control the content and sign the final version.
  • Work through court forms such as the C100 or N161, where applicable, so you understand the questions and can organise the information you choose to include. You complete, sign and submit the form yourself.
  • Understand general court processes, common legal terms and what may happen at the next hearing.

This is my way of giving back: offering someone else the time I once needed.

You can speak honestly, including about things that are hard to say.

No introductions. No personal details. No contracts.

This is a confidential service. No names or identifying details are exchanged during the conversation.

You do not need to know exactly what you want from the conversation. You do not need to persuade me. I am not here to decide who is right or determine what happened. We can use the first few minutes to work out where to begin and what would be most helpful to you.

Your session takes place through a private online call link. You can join from a phone, tablet or computer without downloading anything or creating an account. Use the link.

Step 2Choose your donation

Choose an amount

This service is supported by donations. The suggested donation is £20 to £60 for a session of up to 45 minutes, but please give only what you can afford. Payment in advance is required to confirm your session.

If money is the reason you are hesitating, please do not let it stop you. If you cannot afford the suggested donation, enter 30p and book anyway. This is the minimum amount the payment provider can process. No one is turned away because they cannot afford the suggested donation.

If you choose to give more, my wholehearted thanks. Your generosity helps cover the cost of running this service and keeps sessions available to people who can contribute only a small amount.

Checking available times. Please wait.

Your session is confirmed once payment is received. If you cancel before the session starts, your payment is refunded.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A few things you may want to know

Is this confidential?
I treat the conversation as confidential, but it is not legally privileged. No names or identifying details need to be exchanged.
Do I need to give any names or personal details?
During the conversation, you do not need to give any names or identifying details. The payment page asks for an email address and the details needed to process your donation. I receive the email address so your confirmation and private links can be sent to you.
What if I cannot afford anything?
The payment provider cannot process £0, so the minimum online amount is 30p. Enter 30p and book. No one is turned away because they cannot afford the suggested donation.
Why is the donation taken before the session?
The donation confirms your booking and allows me to reserve that time for you. I run this service alongside my professional work, so the number of appointments I can offer is limited. If you cancel before the session begins, your donation is refunded.
Why is this service donation only?
I created this service because it is the kind of help I was looking for when I was going through family court, and I could not find it. I want support to remain available regardless of what someone can afford. Donations help cover the cost of running the service and keep sessions available to people who can contribute only a small amount.
Do I need to download anything for this conversation to take place?
No. You can open the private call link in a web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. You do not need to create an account.
Do I need to prepare before the session?
You do not need to know exactly what you want to ask. If possible, have any key dates, documents or questions nearby. We can work out where to begin together.
What happens during the conversation?
You choose where to begin. I listen and help you organise your thoughts, questions or preparation. I am not there to decide who is right.
Do you provide legal advice?
No. I can help you understand general processes and think through your questions, but I cannot advise you what to do. Your decisions remain yours.
Can you help with a statement or court form?
Yes. I can help you structure your own words or work through the questions. You decide the content, then complete, sign and submit the document yourself.
Can you come to court with me?
This website books online sessions. In-court support can be discussed separately. Any assistance as a McKenzie Friend is subject to the court’s decision, and I cannot act or speak for you.
Is this counselling or an emergency service?
No. This is a listening and practical support service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services.
